In loving memory of Ilene Cecilia Glymp, born in New Kensington, PA, and died on Dec 28, 2016

Ilene Cecilia Boyd Glymp, 67, suddenly passed away December 28, 2016.
Ilene was born in New Kensington, PA. the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy Boyd, where she resided until July of 1960, when the family relocated to Kingsport, TN.

While attending high school at Dobyns-Bennett, Ilene served many hours as a volunteer Candy Striper at HVCH. During this time, she found her true devotion, nursing, concentrating on the care of geriatric patients. Ilene briefly worked after high school at ASG Industries (Greenland), married and soon adapted to the life of an Army wife. As she and her family followed her husband from Ft. Campbell to Vicenza Italy, her dream of being a nurse kept beckoning her.
After following life's journeys, through many paths and turns, Ilene finally saw her dream come to fruition, and in 1983 she graduated from nursing school. Immediately after receiving her license she began working at Greystone Healthcare Center (Blountville, TN) where she stayed for most of her career, over 30 years, retiring in January of 2015.
Ilene is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth H. Boyd, sister Patricia Boyd Dowell, and her only son, John Edward Glymp.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy A. Boyd (Kingsport); brother, Richard K. Boyd (Greeneville, TN); sisters, Mrs. Peter D. Hooven (Nancy) and Mrs. John Nance (Cathy) both of Kingsport. Ilene leaves behind her only daughter, Rebecca Glymp; grandson, Alexander Blake Glymp; and granddaughter, Brianna Glymp-Johnson of Kingsport.
Ilene is also survived by her grandson, Justin Ketron; granddaughters, Stephanie Ketron, Jasmine Reeves and Allie Glymp; and her great-grandson, Kenneth Jordon Ketron.
