Charlene Luster, 76, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2009.
She was born and raised in the Sulphur Springs community, and attended Sulphur Springs School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She had a great sense of humor, which enabled her to get to know people around her. She loved her family, and all who knew her will greatly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Buena Rogers, her husband, Elmer Luster, a grandson, Jason Pless, and a sister, Jean Sells.
Survivors include her daughters, Connie Franklin, of Kingsport; Gail Hammonds and husband Danny, of Kingsport; Sheila Pless and husband John, Kingsport; Michele Trent and fiancé Ritchie Harris, of Kingsport; a son, Mike Luster and wife Rhonda, Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister Gaynell Blankenship; two brothers, Lloyd Rogers and Jimmy Rogers all of Washington Co, TN.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson with Pastor Marlin Jaynes officiating.
Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Alvis, Ritchie Harris, Jason King, John W. Pless, John Daniel Pless and Danny Hammonds.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice and also of Brookhaven Manor.
