Charles Edward Castle, Jr.

Charles Edward Castle, Jr., went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born on December 20,1931, in Coeburn, Virginia. He was the eldest son of Charles E. Castle, Sr. and Viola Castle (née Sampson). 

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers; a daughter, Karen E. Castle Flagle; her husband, William L. Flagle; and a grandson, Brian E. Dowell, all of Bristol, Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Peggy J. Castle (née Reach); daughters Lorrie (Joe) LeBeau and Cindy (Kamran) Hayel; one granddaughter, Megan (Brian) Franklin; one great-grandson, Harrison Franklin; and half-sister, Rita Castle Benfield, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Charlie proudly served in the army at Ft. Knox during the Korean War. He worked at Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company and retired after 32 years. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He also volunteered at Bristol Regional Medical Center with over 24,000 hours of dedicated service in which he has won many awards, recognitions and hearts.

Charlie touched many lives and was loved by all who knew him. He truly will be missed.

Services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the Chapel at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 2630 TN-75 (Airport Road), Blountville, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors from 12pm to 2pm, with the service being at 2pm with Rev. Raymond Amos officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
