Charles Thomas Ferrell, 48, of Harrisburg, PA, formerly of Harrisburg, NC, died Monday December 13, 2009 in his recording studio in Harrisburg, PA. Born to Peggy and Bobby Ray Ferrell in Bristol, TN, on February 8, 1961, he grew up in Kingsport.
Charlie grew up in Kingsport where he learned to play the drums and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. Charlie's formal education culminated with his graduation from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a degree in Computer Science. Career opportunities eventually took Charlie to Charlotte, NC, where he earned a position with Phillip Morris as a systems analyst, a position at which he worked for over 20 years. Charlotte was also the place where he won the heart of his wife, Janie.
Years of dedicated service to his employer and his marriage both ended in 2008, and Charlie seized the opportunity to begin a new life for himself in Harrisburg, PA, opening 7 Bridges Studios with his fiancee Bridget Gallagher earlier this year.
Preceding Charlie in death were his wife, Janie Ciccolella Ferrell, and his brother, Jonathan Frank Ferrell.
Survivors include his fiancee Bridget Gallagher of Harrisburg, PA; parents, Bobby R. and Peggy Ferrell, both of Kingsport; sisters Robbin Skinner and her husband Marty of Charlotte, NC, and Leslie Latture and husband Gary of Kingsport; stepson, Andrew Clark and fiancee eLisha Hunt of Charlotte; and an enormous and eclectic collection of friends and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 16th at 1:30 p.m.
