Charles Ernest Horton, 91, Kingsport, died Saturday, August 13 at his home.
Born in Columbia, SC, he was a 1st Sgt in the Army and fought in World War II and was a POW. He was a salesman for Moore Business Forms for 40 years and was a resident of the Tri-Cities for 48 years. He was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church and delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years with his wife of 71 years, Marjorie.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Horton, Kingsport; a daughter, Marcia Toomey and her husband, Rick of Kingsport; a daughter, Kim Rannick and her husband, Glenn of Gray; four grandchildren, Laurie Montgomery and her husband Rob, Justin Rannick and his wife, Kari, Jamie McAmis and his wife, Jill, and Josh Rannick and his wife, Betsy; and three great-grandchildren, Mariah Montgomery, Matt Montgomery, and Jake Rannick.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Cassidy United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Griffin officiating.

The family expresses its deepest appreciation to their extended family of caregivers and to Caris for their love, care, and support for Charles during his time of need.
