Charles James "Jim" Kiss Jr

Charles James "Jim" Kiss, Jr., 82, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at his residence. Born in Kingsport on November 18, 1934, a son of the late Charlie and Oneita Kiss, he has resided in this area his entire life. Jim graduated from Lynn View High School and attended ETSU and Northeast State. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jim retired from Eastman Chemical Company following 43 years of service. He kept high school football statistics for Ketron High School and Sullivan North High School for 56 years consecutively, without missing a Friday night. Jim served on the Sullivan County School Board for 30 years. He was a member of the Bloomingdale Ruritan Club. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend, who loved sports (Atlanta Braves).

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Josh Norris.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella Kiss; his children, Debby Marshall and husband Bobby of Kingsport; Vicki Norris and husband Aaron of Kingsport; Randy Kiss and wife Regina of Kingsport, Teri Williams and husband David of Lebanon, TN, Becky Courtney and husband Matt of Kingsport, and Betsy Kiss of Kingsport; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Smythe and husband Allen of Kingsport; two nieces, Lisa Dingus and husband Jody, Allison Butcher and husband Rob; and one nephew, Brad Smythe.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Bishop Jason Pickup officiating. Those attending committal services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Brett Williams, Trevor Williams, Mitch Ketron, Alex Kiss, Blake Kiss, Charlie Kiss, Ben Norris, Clint Norris, Scott Ketron, Seth Williams, Nick Wahrer, and Lucas Norris.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Bloomingdale Ruritan Club, 3232 Van Horn St, Kingsport, TN 37660.
