Charles Keener McGhee

Charles K. McGhee, 84, of Kingsport passed from this life into Eternity on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Welomont - Holston Valley Medical Center after a short period of declining health. Charles was born in Sullivan County and made his home in the West View Community McGhee Street his entire 84 years of life.

He was a former employee of AFG Glass Company until the strike of 1956. After the strike, he worked as a painter and retired from that position.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents William Bill and Nancy Arnold Mcghee; sisters Lucille McGhee, Hazel Nelms, and Marie Williams; brother William McGhee Jr.; and nephews Danny Joe and Phillip R. Williams.

Surviving Charles are sister Jean Robinette; brother Otis McGhee; special niece Peggy Williams; special nephew Bobby Williams; special great-great-great nephew Landon Dingus; also several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his special friend - his dog Macy.

The body will be brought to the residence on Saturday afternoon and remain there until the time of the funeral on Monday. There will a short prayer at the residence by Rev. Tommy Benton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Elijah Woods officiating. The family requests that those attending the graveside service meet at the residence at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Pallbearers will be Ronald McGhee, Sammy Williams, Terry Williams, Steve Nelms, Clarence Nelms, and Larry Dishner. Honarary Pallbearers will be Don Nelms, Chuck Nelms, and Rodney McGhee.
