Charles "Chuck" Meade, 39, of Kingsport, went to be with his family and the Lord unexpectedly Thursday, October 23, 2008.
He was a 1988 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and served in the U. S. Navy from 1989 to 1993 aboard the USS Hunley AS-31 as an A Bosen Mate 3. Chuck was employed by White Foods and had worked at Food Lion in Church Hill and Hog Wild in Kingsport. His hobbies included NASCAR, computers, and football.
Chuck was a loving father, son, grandson, brother, and uncle. He will be loved and missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Meade; maternal grandparents, Frank Pickens Sr. and Iona Cody Pickens; and paternal grandfather, James Lee Meade.
Survivors include one daughter, Desiree Lynn Meade of Howell, Michigan; one son, Charles Logan Meade of Church Hill; his mother, Sandra Kay Meade; sister, Susanne Meade; brother, Jeff "Shorty" Meade and wife Lois; paternal grandmother, Abbie Meade, all of Kingsport; nieces and nephews, Alexis Meade, Kayla Robinson, Montana Meade, Shawna Meade, and Tristan Robinson; and mother-in-law, Sharon Frazier.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and any time at the home of his sister.
Services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at the funeral home with Rev. J. W. Depew officiating.
Burial will follow at the Carter-Meade Cemetery in Blackwater, VA with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #3/265 and the Virginia National Gaurd. Pallbearers will be "P.J." Phillip Robinson, Brandon Lane, Tim Thacker, David Derrick, John Willis, David King and Joe Ramirez.
