Charles Jackson ?C. J.? Phillips, Jr., 91, Kingsport, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Blountville, TN, but had lived in Kingsport most of his life. C. J. retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1978 after 43 years of service. He was a General Shift Foreman in the Acid Concentration Department. He loved fishing and enjoyed mowing lawns for himself and others.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Jackson Phillips, Sr. and Anna Pearl Smalling Phillips; a sister, Selma Elizabeth Cartwright; a brother, Arthur Paul Phillips.
Surviving are his wife, Edna McConnell Phillips of 58 years; one son, Mark Lee Phillips; a brother-in-law, Ubert McConnell; sisters-in-law, Lotus Good and Eliza Hartsock; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews ? Williams Good, Scott Good, Daris Hartsock, Lyle Hartsock, Richard Hartsock, Wayne Robinson, James Francisco, and Phil Phillips.
