Charles R. Pitts, 87, Kingsport, died Thursday morning October 15, 2009 at Baysmont Asbury Place. Son of Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Pitts, Florence AL, he served in the U.S. Army for 3 ½ years and was discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was employed by A. H. Robins Pharmaceuticals in Richmond, VA, as a pharmaceutical salesman for a long period of time, and managed an apartment complex prior to retirement. Charles was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by one sister, Marie Schulken, of Kingsport; a niece, Jean Harley and husband Larry, Abingdon, VA; and a nephew, Rod Schulken and wife Cyndi, Houston, TX.
Graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m.. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
