Charles Ellis Terry, 70, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Ellis was born in Lee County, VA and moved to Kingsport in 1956. He worked at Kingsport Press and Prudential Insurance and was self-employed in upholstery.
Ellis was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harmon B. Terry 1977; mother, Rebecca Terry 1978; nephews, Terry Owens and Phillip Massengill; brother-in-law, Jack Massengill; brother, Arthur "Tip" Terry; and sister, Frances Owens.
Surviving are two sons, Christopher Terry, Church Hill and Michael Terry, Gray; one granddaughter, Jenna Terry, Gray; three sisters, Jean Bartley and husband Marvin of Ben Hur, VA, Betty T. Massengill and Barbara Page, both of Kingsport; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Owens, Clyde, OH; nephews, Johnny Bartley of Roanoke, VA, Dennis Owens and wife Jennifer, Cleveland, OH, Kevin Page and wife Trina, Willow Springs, NC, Mark Massengill and wife Donna, Church Hill; nieces, Susan Widener and husband Rob, Ben Hur, VA and Carmen DeVault and husband Gary, Crossville, TN; great-nephews, Logan Massengill, Church Hill, Ben DeVault, Crossville, TN, and Parker Owens, Cleveland, OH; and two great-nieces, Amanda Owens of Cleveland, OH and Jessica Dent of Church Hill.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating. Music will be by Damon Depew.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, VA. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 Saturday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
