Charles T. Young

Charles T. Young, 84, Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, November 1, 2013, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. Charles was born in Wise County, Virginia and resided most of his life in the Kingsport area. He was an employee of Kingsport Press until the early 60's. Charles then became a self-employed contractor, owning C.T. Young Construction until his retirement. He was a member of Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully until his illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vivian Young in November 2003, and his sister, Hazel Carroll.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Landwerth and husband, Ken of Kingsport, and Delores Hunt and husband, Steve of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Rick Burns, Brandy Landwerth and Jennifer Blakley and husband, Tony; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Blakley, Tyler Blakley, Amanda Burns, Taylor Burns and Tanner Horton; one soon to be great-great-granddaughter; and a niece and nephew.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, or at anytime at the home of the daughter, Delores Hunt. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 pm with Elder Oscar Irvin and Elder Burnice Sybert officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday at Poplar Grove Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Mr. Young's body will be at Poplar Grove Baptist Church from 12-1:00 pm for viewing.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Flowers are acceptable, though memorial contributions can be made to Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church c/o Jean Wallen, 744 Poplar Grove Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664.
