Charley B. Jarrett, Jr., 71, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Charley had retired from Holston Defense and also owned and operated a heating and air business. He was an evangelist and the chaplain at Holston Manor Nursing Home. Charley was a man of faith and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Laurie Jarrett; step-mom, Florence Jarrett; one brother, Gary Jarrett, and two sisters, Betty Lane and Mary Sue Bango.
Charley is survived by his loving wife, Sherree Jarrett; three daughters, Charla Caldwell and husband, John Paul, Michelle Peters and husband, Glenn, and Laurie Jarrett; two step-daughters, Brittany Elliott and Heather McGlothian and husband, John; three step-sons, L. J. Elliott and wife, Rachel, Nick Elliott, and Eric Elliott; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Jan Susie Auftencamp and Margaret Jarrett; two brothers, Larry Jarrett and Bill Guy; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Michael Boggs and Pastor Vern Hall officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 10 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites presented by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
