Charlotte Neely, of Kingsport, died Saturday afternoon December 12, 2009 at Asbury Place.
Born July 14, 1917 in Petersburg, VA to the late Julius Andrew and Mary Florence Butler Minton, she grew up in Roanoke, VA, and graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, VA, as a Home Economist. Charlotte came to Kingsport to work for the Utilities Company. She married James Robert Bob Neely on September 20, 1941, who died in 2002.
Mrs. Neely had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1941. She was a member of Junior League, Perennial Garden Club, and several bridge clubs.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Neely, of Sevierville, TN; nephews, Andy Minton, of Charlottesville, VA, and Kirk Minton, of Patterson, CA; and niece, Candy Cummings, of Charlottesville, VA.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
