Charlotte Townsend, 91, of Sullivan Gardens went home to be with the Lord at 7:36 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009.
Mrs. Townsend was born in Avery County, North Carolina, and had resided in Kingsport since 1948. Charlotte was a retired employee of the Sullivan County School System.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Oak Glen Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence Townsend; son, Jacob; daughter, Carolyn; several sisters and brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Jewell.
Surviving are her three sons, Keys H. Townsend and wife Jolene, of Mt. Carmel, TN; Gaither Townsend of Kingsport and Joe Townsend and wife, Iva, of Fall Branch; five grandchildren, Diane, Sandra, Jeanette, Pam, and Wende; nine great-grandchildren, Derick, Chris, Amanda, Chelsey, Lindsey, Kayla, Amber, Dustin and Allie; one great-great granddaughter, Skyland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson at the funeral home with Pastor Gaither Townsend, Pastor Brandon Woods, and Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Olson, Bud Willis, Craig Bass, Bruce Brocklebank, Michael Smith, and Mark Scott.
