Cheri Nelms Bell, age 64, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2024. She was born in Fayetteville, NC, on September 15, 1960, to Joan and Clarence Nelms. She graduated from Lynn View High School in 1978 and retired as a hair stylist after 32 years. Cheri was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She will be remembered for her remarkable ability to never meet a stranger and infectious sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Cheri Nelms Bell was a testament to those fighting battles behind closed doors and those who strive to smile even in the darkest of times. She was cherished by many and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Nelms; and granddaughter, Novaleigh Henderson.
Cheri is survived by her mother, Joan Nelms; her daughter, Shayla (Matt Henderson); father of her daughter, Aaron Bell and his mother, whom was like a second mother to her, Ruby Bell; brothers, Steve Nelms (Monna), Mike Nelms (Angel); sister Janey Lane (Eddie); grandchildren Brody, Bryleigh, and Lakynn; and lots of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor David Salley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday December 13, 2024, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Matt Henderson, Brody Henderson, Eddie Lane, Justin Lane, Steve Nelms, and Aaron Bell. Honorary Pallbearer will be Eric Bell.
