Chester N. Myers

Chester N. Myers, 82, died Friday, January 18, 2013.
He was born March 1, 1930 in Hillsville, VA and lived there until he entered Emory and Henry College at age 16. After two years he transferred to Virginia Polytechnic Institute Virginia Tech and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.

Following graduation in 1950, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Technical Warfare Section in Detrick, Maryland. After serving two years in the army, he was employed at Radford Arsenal.

He was employed by Eastman Kodak Company from the mid-1950's until his early retirement in 1987. He was a licensed Professional Engineer while at Eastman.

Chester loved to hunt and fish and was an avid golfer. He served as a starter at Graysburg Hills Golf Course following his retirement from Eastman until recently.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Beulah Myers; a sister, Pansy Stoots and a brother, Don Myers.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mildred Myers and daughters, Kathy Liner and husband David of Nashville, TN, Sharon Cotten and husband Tom of Winston Salem, NC, and Patti McAnally and husband David of Wake Forest, NC; three grandchildren: Laura Liner, Randy Cotten, and Lindsay Cotten, and great-grandson, James Ryan Zumwalt; and best friend, Jack Greene.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 20th at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Mickey Rainwater, Rev. Spurgeon McCartt, and Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends in the social hall of the church following the service.
