Chola Juanita Light Collins

Chola Juanita Light Collins, 96, born May 16, 1914, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 31, 2010.

Mrs. Collins was the only daughter of the late Roy Oscar and Emmaline Sells Light.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed making crafts and doing word search puzzles. Many people in the area have enjoyed her dolls, rabbits, and various other crafts.

She attended Charity Chapel Church when able, where she was affectionately known as "Mamaw" by everyone. She worked for 26 years at the J.P. Stevens plant in the Carding Department and was the church secretary for Kendrick's Creek Methodist Church at the age of 14.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bays Collins; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Pauline Light, Albert and Francis Light, Carson "Shorty" and Mildred Light; one grandson, Randy Faust; and a son-in-law, Charles Faust.

Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Jo Faust, wife of the late Charles Faust, and Carolyn Callie Light and her husband, Gary Light; four grandsons and their wives, Gaines and Lola Faust, Josh and Rebecca Light, Caylon and Keri Light, and Jonathan and Rebecca Light; one granddaughter and her husband, Cholia Diana and Johhny Hayes; one granddaughter-in-law, Debbie Faust wife of the late Randy Faust, grandson; Seven great-grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Shawn Cox, Chuck and Carrie Faust, Keith Faust, Ryan Faust, Michele and Mark Pendleton, Ray and Victoria Hayes, Tresica and Jimmy Colvin; eight great-great grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, and Daniel Cox, Macy, Charlie, and Keaton Faust, Megan Faust, and Morgan Pendleton.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and anytime at the home of her daughter, Callie Light. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Owens officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Short, Larry Weatherly, and Caylon Light grandson.

Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kendrick's Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to gather at 10:45 a.m. at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gaines Faust, Josh Light, Caylon Light, Jonathan Light, Chuck Faust, Ryan Faust, Keith Faust, and Ray Hayes. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Hayes, Mark Pendleton, and the members of Charity Chapel Church.

The family would like extend special thanks to Dr. Gregory Jeansonne and the staff of Appalachian Orthopedics as well as to the nurses and CNA's on the 200 wing of Wexford House for their care and support.
