Christopher Carson Kit Light, 59, of 400 Sunset Drive, G-31, Hermitage Manor, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, after an extended illness.

Chris was born in Kingsport and attended Ketron High School and Tri-State Vocational Technical School in Blountville. He moved to Atlanta in 1971 where he worked as a musician, sound engineer, and recording artist.

Chris performed with many music groups over the years and helped record dozens of albums for other artists. He performed on an album with the Backalley Bandits for London Records that was produced by music legend Waylon Jennings.

He moved back to Johnson City in 2003 and co-founded Hopson Global Education and Training, a company that has provided online training and educational content for East Tennessee State University, American Intercontinental University, Healthstream, USA Prepare, and the American Psychological Association.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Carson C. Carl light, in 2004.

He is survived by one daughter, Shanna Christine Light of Johnson City; his mother, Angela Beth Light, also of Johnson City; one brother, Randall Light and his wife, Amy, of Cornelius, North Carolina; one sister, Judi Light Hopson and her husband, James A. Hopson, of Unicoi, Tennessee; two nieces, Shelby Light and Carson Light, both of Cornelius, North Carolina; and several aunts and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the home, 400 Sunset Drive, G-31, Hermitage Manor, in Johnson City on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Chaplain Frederick Meredith officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those attending should meet at the cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris?s follow musicians who performed with him from 1965-2007.
