Clanthe V. Dykes, 80, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at home in Kingsport.
She was born in Kingsport, graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO. Clanthe was employed for several years with Tennessee Valley Authority TVA in Chattanooga and Johnson City, retiring in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kent and Sue Dykes; one brother, Gordon Dykes; two sisters, Audrey D. Speer and husband Norman, Cuma D. Collins and husband Jack; a brother-in-law, Bob Morelock; and a great-niece, Nichole Dykes.
She is survived by one sister, Wanda Morelock, Kingsport; four nieces and eight nephews and their spouses and children.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3 at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Following the interment, family and friends will gather at the home of her sister, Wanda Morelock, 1518 Highpoint Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P. O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
