Clara Yvonne "Sue" Holt, 75, of Indian Springs Community, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center after a courageous battle with non hodgkin's lymphoma. Sue was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was a 1956 graduate of Sullivan High School. She had primarily been a homemaker most of her life but had worked at Mason-Dixon and Wal-mart. Sue had been an active member of Cassidy United Methodist Church for over 50 years. In her earlier years, Sue had grown up playing golf and caddying at the Old Kingsport Golf Course. She was an avid reader and poetry writer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Holt; sisters, Blanche, Pauline and Ruby; and brothers, Robert, Theo and Dick.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Thompson and husband, Clayton of Gray; sons, Tony Holt and wife, Cindy, and Jeff Holt and wife, Julie, all of Blountville; eight grandchildren, Amanda Stallard and husband, Lance, Christen Holt and husband, Austin, Lauren Allison and husband, Cody, Shannon Holt, Wesley Holt, Drew Thompson, Lexie Holt and Rylee Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Warner Stallard, Joleigh Allison and Colson Stallard; siblings, Bill Webster and wife, Betty of Abingdon, VA, and Opal Robertson of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Brenda Webster of Gray, TN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6th from 3-5:30 pm at Cassidy United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 5:30 pm with Pastor Chuck Griffin and Rev. Al South officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, April 7th at 12:00 pm at Gunnings Cemetery in Blountville. Family members and friends will be pallbearers.
