Clara Marcum, 94, of Kingsport, went to her heavenly home, Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.
Born in Sullivan County, where she had resided all her life, Clara was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Oscar and Eva Rhea Galloway Smith; husband of 62 years, Dan Louis Marcum; sisters, Maude McQueen, Olene Brooks and Edna Haynes; and brothers, Clyde Smith and Robert Smith.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Odom and husband, Steve of Kingsport; two sons, Paul L. Marcum of Kingsport, and Walter R. Marcum and wife, Kemberly of Walling, TN; two grandsons, Jonathan Odom, fiancée, Beth Snapp, and Daniel Marcum, wife, Hannah, and daughter, Sydney; a sister, Eula Johnson of Gray, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport from 1-2:30 pm. Services will follow at 2:30 pm with Dr. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.
Clara's family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to all friends, neighbors and caregivers who have given support and special care to her.
