Clarence Alvin Son Hicks, 75, of Kingsport, peacefully entered eternal rest at his home of February 20 after a brief illness.
He was born October 15, 1933 in Kingsport to the late Mary and Clarence Hicks, was of the Methodist faith, and was an Airman 3rd Class in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He enjoyed reading, music, nature and spending time with his family.
Clarence was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie Haynes Hicks, son, Alvin Glen Hicks and a grandson, Aaron Dale Moorefield. All brothers and sisters precede him in death, including: Ralph Vernon Hicks, Fred Wilbur Hicks, Jessie Lee Hicks, Edith Parker Mowdy, Kate Parker Henry, Dewey Pearl Hicks Lawson, Helen Ruth Hicks Hammonds and Thelma Louise Hicks Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Hicks Moorefield and husband Roy Dale and Cindy Hicks Housewright and husband Dale. Grandchildren include Bo Housewright and fiancée Shonda Ward, Kansas Evans and fiancé Joe Littleton, Brandy Evans, Marie Gilman, Becky Housewright Spears and husband Jason, Gabriella Moorefield, Michael Moorefield, Lowery Moorefield, Rebekah Moorefield Gragg and husband Drew. Great-grandchildren include Jacob and Joshua Gragg, Aaron and Justin Spears, Vanessa Housewright Porfirio, LeeAnn Manis, Elizabeth Evans, Jayla Gilman, Jonathan MacCalla and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 21st, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hamlett-Dobosn Funeral Home, Kingsport Chapel. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 22nd, at 2:00 PM at Pactolus Cemetery, with Todd Harless officiating.
Pallbearers will be Adam Moorefield, Lowery Moorefield, Bo Housewright, Dale Housewright, Drew Gragg and Donnie Rogan.
