Clarence K. Rogers

Clarence "C.K." Rogers, of Church Hill, died after a long-term illness at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center on Wednesday evening, July 14, 2010. He was born November 23, 1943, in Sullivan County, the son of the late Clarence K. Rogers, Sr., and Juanita Davidson Rogers. He graduated from Church Hill High School in 1961, and attended Hiwassee College. He served in the Navy from 1962 until 1968 as MM3, and was the former owner of Rogers Heating and Cooling Service for 20 years, retiring in 2001. He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly Parker Rogers; a son, Michael David Rogers and wife, Christy, of Delta Junction, Alaska; a daughter, Michelle Rogers Harless and husband, David, of Mt. Carmel; two grandsons, Joshua Harless and Evan Rogers; two sisters, Barbara Jean Rogers Davis and husband, Wayne, and Clara Josephine Rogers Wininger and husband, Percy; brother-in-law David Parker and wife, Cynthia; sister-in-law, Barbara Parker Blazer and husband, Ed; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, on Saturday from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Services will follow at 7:00, with Rev. Jim Harless and Rev. Harrison Bell officiating.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Percy Wininger, John Wininger, Ken Davis, David Parker, Edward Blazer, and Steve Jarrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Davis and former employees of Rogers Heating and Cooling Service.

Our thanks to the staffs of Kingsport Medical Center, Kingsport Hematology and Oncology, Pulmonary Associates, 5th Floor and 5th Floor ICU at Wellmont, and 3rd Floor at Wilcox Hall for their loving care and support.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church designated for the Ragle Outdoor Worship Center.
