Claude J. Farmer

Claude J. Farmer, 92, Kingsport, TN was called home on Saturday, January 18, 2025. He was born in Wise, VA and had resided in Kingsport since his youth. Claude was an employee of Holston Valley Medical Center where he was a surgery tech retiring after 44 years of service. Claude was a member of First Community Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradley and Grace Dean Farmer; wife, Marie Farmer; brothers, Brad, Carl Joe and Charles Farmer; sister, Shirley Dockery; son-in-law Michael Salyer; sisters-in-law, Clara Bullock and Betty Haygood; and brother-in-law William Danna

Claude is survived by daughters, Tinia Salyer of Kingsport, Bobbie Hill and husband, John of Elizabethton, and Julie Chappell and husband John of Texas; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Brenda Wilson of Kingsport; brother, Malcolm Shelton of Blountville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am -1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Malcolm Shelton and Bradley Farmer III. The graveside service will take place immediately following the service at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
