Claude Edward Miller, 71, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He graduated from Ketron High School and retired from Quebecor/Hawkins County Press, after 43 years of service. Claude was a Vietnam Veteran having served as a Sergeant in the Army 114th Aviation Company. He flew more than 150 combat missions in a helicopter as a gunner and received 6 medals, including the Air Medal. Claude was of the Baptist faith, attending Gravely Baptist Church. His hobbies included furniture restoration, gardening and genealogy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Glenda Pearcy Miller; mother, Madge Miller Brownlow; father, Prior Jess Miller; brothers, Raymond Miller, P.J. Miller, and Jenis Miller; and twin infant sisters.

Claude is survived by his daughter, Lisa Hurd Morris and husband, Jim of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Colby Hurd, Avery Hurd, and Grayson Hurd; brothers, Jimmy Miller of Jacksonville, FL, and Terry Miller of Gray, TN; fiancée, Thelma Davis of Rogersville, TN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Pastor David Salley officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military Rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Colby Hurd, Avery Hurd, Grayson Hurd, Jody Allen, Jim Morris and John Maupin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
