Claudia Gardner Bright, born July 31, 1923 to Dr. Sylvester and Ida Gardner in Derby, Virginia passed away on February 15, 2016. She was a beautiful person both physically and in spirit. She was a loving wife for over 71 years and a caring Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nell Barton (Banard), sister-in-law Kathleen Miller (Paul), brother-in laws, Hugh Mitchell and Dale Stafford.
Survivors include her husband Hagan, a son Richard (Billie), grandchildren, Whitney Ungerboeck (Krister) and Aaron Bright (Rachel), great grandchildren, Ada and Hagan Bright and Morgan and Xander Ungerboeck, niece, Betty Jean Isley (Don), their children, Donna Mason and Tom Isley, sister-in-law, Pearl Stafford, and several nieces and nephews. She loved them all.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and special appreciation to their caregivers Vonda Hager (and immediate family) and Ilene Allen for the kind and loving care given to Claudia over an extended period of time, and also for friends who have been so supportive with gifts, phone calls, emails and visits, especially Louise Ammons and Jackson Weikel of Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, February 19 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home (117 E. Charlemont Ave.) followed by a brief celebration of her life conducted by Rev. Jack Weikel. Interment will be at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
