Clay E. Rodefer, 84, Kingsport, TN, died Thursday morning, February 7, 2008, at Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga, TN after injuries sustained in a welding accident on January 12, 2008.
He was a life long resident of Sullivan County and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was owner and operator of Rodefer's Garage for twenty-eight years. Mr. Rodefer was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Washington County Bookkeepers Association and Charter member of the Eagles Club. He was a director for East Tennessee Mutual Insurance Company.
His parents, George and Ada Rodefer preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Wanell Powell Rodefer, of the home; son, Mark Rodefer and wife Judy Rodefer, Kingsport, TN; two daughters, Marsha Fleenor and husband Michael H. Fleenor, Greenville, NC; Linda Fountain and husband Geof Fountain, Akin, SC; four grandchildren, Karen Fleenor Holzwarth and husband Todd, Rebecca Fleenor Smith and husband Blake, Julia Fountain, Jennifer Fountain; two great-granddaughters, Campbell Holzwarth, Kelsea Holzwarth; one great-grandson, Trent Clay Smith.
Calling hours are 4-6:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Bement officiating.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Gunnings Cemetery.
