Clayton Daugherty, 74, of Kingsport, died Tuesday morning, August 14, 2012, at his home after an extended illness. Born in Kingsport, where he had lived all of his life, Clayton served in the US. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Appalachian Electric Power in 1998 after 37 years of service. Clayton was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Mountain View United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joanne Daugherty of the home; three daughters, Melissa White and husband, Earl of Bristol, Sandra Bundrant-Bank and husband, Ralph of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Patricia Myers and husband, Johnny of Kingsport; six granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and several half-sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, August 17th at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Justin Crouse officiating. Military rites by American Legion Posts 3/265.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home of daughter, Patty and Johnny Myers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 127 Dillon Court, Gray, TN 37615.
