Clayton Matthew Donihue

Clayton Matthew Donihue, 20, of Gray, TN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born in Greeneville, TN, on January 29, 1998. At age 2 Clayton was diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T), but he never let it affect his ability to live a fun and fulfilling life. He attended Fall Branch Elementary and Middle School, and Daniel Boone High School. Clay was granted a Make-A-Wish in 2013, to attend the WWE Royal Rumble, where he met Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, in Phoenix, AZ. He enjoyed playing video games, movies, horseback riding at Small Miracles, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Steve Donihue; and great-grandparents, George and Frances Armstrong, J L Donihue, Mary Alice Mead, and Doyle Edwards.
He is survived by his mother, Tracy Armstrong and Matt Pearce; father, David Donihue and wife Lane Estepp-Donihue; brother, Tyler Cole; twin-sister, Jessie Booher and husband Jamey; step-sister, Lake Meade; grandparents, Ronnie and Sandra Armstrong; grandmother, Betty Donihue; great-grandmother, Sara Edwards; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Malone officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at East Tennessee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lantz, Derek Murphy, JR Russell, David Gray, Jesse Ford, and Brian Dance.
Clay's Make-A-Wish experience inspired him to want to help and contribute to The Make-A-Wish Foundation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A-T Children's Project, 5300 W.
