Cleda Mae Cox

Cleda Mae Cox, 96, of Sullivan Garden Community, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her residence surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Hawkins County and had resided in Sullivan Gardens most of her life. Cleda was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and enjoyed The Church Ladies Circles and church outings. She also enjoyed gardening and quilting. Cleda was an LPN and had retired from Holston Valley Hospital having worked in the newborn nursery. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, John Bell Cox, Sr.; daughter, Delores Brown; son, Buford Cox; grandson, John H. Cox; sister, Ina Trent; brother, William D. Bowlin; and daughter-in-law, Edna Cox.
Cleda is survived by four sons, John Cox, Jr., and wife, Carmen, Jerry Cox, Charles Cox and James Cox, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister, Lula Calhoun; brother, Hiram Hamilton Bowlin, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 pm at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
