Clifford Roy Carr

Clifford Carr, 86, Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord Sunday January 6, 2008.

He was a lifetime member of the Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department. Clifford was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 252 Fall Branch. He was a member of the Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post 3382.

Mr. Carr retired from Tennessee Eastman Company, Kodak Division, after 42 years of service. He was a WW II veteran with the 677 AAA Machine Gun Battery, 478 Anti-Aircraft.

He was an avid quilter having completed 430 quilts since 1996. Clifford loved yard sales and ginseng hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Alta Pierce Carr; parents, Ola and Catherine Ingle Carr and Step ? mother, Minnie Boatwright Carr; two brothers; and three sisters.

Surviving are his daughters, Janice Wilson and husband, Jerry, Cathy Lowe and husband, Selmer, and Nancy Wedemeyer and husband, Gary; sons, Bill Carr and wife, Susan, Jim Carr, Johnny Carr and wife, Paula; twelve grandchildren, Leslie Lowe-Meade, Scarlett Wilson-Nelms, Stacey Lowe, Vanessa Carr, Rebekah Carr-Smith, Mark Carr, Amanda Wedemeyer, Nathan Carr, Adam Wedemeyer, Jasmine Carr, Steven Carr, and Jordan Carr; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Nelms; sister-in-law Ruby Pierce, Kingsport; and brother-in-law Lucian Dockery, Rock Springs.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, and anytime at the home. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Carr and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Charles Dewitt Byrd VFW Post 3382.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
