Clifford P. Brickey

Clifford P. Brickey, 95, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2016, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Community Living Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Fort Blackmore, VA to Andrew Jackson "Jack" Brickey and Francis Perry Brickey. He relocated to Kingsport, TN to begin a 43 year and 8 month career with Tennessee Eastman Company. He served in the United States Army during World War II, primarily in Germany, where he received the Purple Heart with Valor and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church since the early 1950's, during which he served terms as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Department Superintendent, Boy Scout Troop Leader, and member of various committees.

In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his wife, Bess Chapman Brickey; brothers, Graham W. Brickey, Henry Claude Brickey, Boyd C. Brickey and Carl E. Brickey; sisters, Beulah Brickey and Ruby Brickey.

He is survived by his son, Eddie C. Brickey of Kingsport; brother, Broadus B. Brickey and wife, Dot of Clemons, NC; sister, Etta Brickey Butler of Morganton, NC; six grandchildren, Dennis Brickey, Mike Brickey, Amy Brickey Hopson, Tim Brickey, Angela Brickey Howe, and Amanda Brickey Holden; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He loved them all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 2206, Brentwood, TN 37024 or online at www.tennesseechildren.org. The home receives no state or federal funding.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 11, 2016 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Charles G. Roberts officiating

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be family members.
