Clyde O. Harler, Jr., 85, of Kingsport, died at his home of natural causes on Monday, September 22, 2008.
He was a longtime employee of the U. S. Postal Service, having held numerous positions. After retirement, he was an avid golfer.
Mr. Harler was a former choir director at St. Luke United Methodist Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde and Ruby Harler; one brother, James Clinton Harler; and one sister, Betty Mae Prater.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Dukes Harler; one son, Clyde O. Harler III of Danville, VA; one brother, John A. Harler and wife Shelby Jean of Winchester, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. There will be no formal services.
