Clyde Recer Overbay

Clyde Recer Overbay, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 6, 2009.

Born in Hawkins County, he resided in Kingsport and was retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Overbay was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Preceding him in death are his parents, William "Willie" and Bessie Phillips Overbay; sisters, Dessie Allen, and Sarah Jobe; brothers, Jack Overbay, T.E. "Bud" Overbay and William A. Overbay Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Clara Allen Overbay; daughters, Gwen Dean of Kingsport, Myra Lowe and husband Mike of Kingsport; son, Mark Overbay and wife Lynn of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Amy Eller and husband David of Kingsport, Travis Laney and wife Jennifer of Jonesborough, Cpl Josh Laney and wife Meghan of Blountville, Rebekah Stamper and husband Jake of Kingsport, Madison Lowe of Kingsport; three great-grandchildren, Coy, Daisy and Ellie Laney; sister, Ella Wright; special niece and nephew, Barbara and Carl Carter; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30pm to 7:00pm Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00pm at the funeral home with Brother Dan Dolen officiating. Honorary minister will be Rev. Orville Dolen.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with military rites provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Travis Laney, Mike Lowe, David Eller, Jake Stamper, Tim Carter and Mike Owens.
