Cody Lynn Shanks

Cody Lynn Shanks, 30, woke up in the arms of his Savior on Sunday, December 15, 2019. After a courageous fight of 14 years, he has won his battle here on Earth. We imagine he is already throwing a ball around with his two papaws. Cody was saved and baptized at age 10 by his Papaw Bob. Cody will be remembered for his mischievous grin, sweet heart, and love of family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rev. Bob Laney and Tom Roach; and uncle, Andy Shanks.

Cody is survived by his parents, Eric and Bobbie Shanks; brother, Levi; grandmothers, Shirley Laney and Sandy Roach; grandfather, Bud Shanks; aunts, Jeannie Crawford (Benny) and Becky Laney (Landy); uncle, Brad Laney (CJ); cousins, Terra Lee (Tim), Brandon Carter (Crystal), Heather Crawford (Cameron); and several great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom were a positive influence in his life.

Cody was cremated and no services are to be conducted at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Many thanks to his friends, family, and healthcare professionals who stood by him so faithfully then, and for all of the years since. A special thank you to Cody’s caregivers, Tonya Phillips and Shawn Halderman, for taking such good care of him.
