Conley Willard Smith

Conley Willard Smith, Kingsport, born January 19, 1941, departed suddenly Thursday, October 4, 2007 at his home.He served his country honorably in the National Guard and retired from Kingsport Press after 42 years service.His parents, Paul W. Smith, Sr. and Lola Nash Smith; a brother, Robert R. Smith; sister, Missouri V. Smith; and first wife, Geraldine Smith preceded him in death.Surviving are his wife, Carol A. Smith, Kingsport; brothers, Damon B. Smith and wife, Wanda, Refugio, Texas, Mack Smith and wife, Barbara Lee, Richmond, VA, Albert Smith, Blountville, TN, P. W. Smith and wife, Joy, Effort, PA; sisters, Lenora Crabtree, Wise, VA, Nadine Smith and Adine Smith, both of Arlington, VA, Peggy St. Clair and husband, Paul, Herndon, VA, Jenny McGinnis and husband, Ron, Chinatown, NC, Sue Penley and husband, Jack, Blountville, TN, Pauline Anderson and husband, John, Piney Flats, TN, Gay Gray and husband, Jack, Orlando, FL, Karen Ogan and husband, Doug, Kingsport, TN. Also surviving are stepchildren from his previous and present marriage; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots of friends. Conley also leaves behind two dear fishing buddies, J. R. and John. Calling hours are from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Al South officiating.Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with military rites held by American Legion Post #3/265.Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wise Nash Historical Society in the name of Conley W.
