Daisy Herron Vicars, 94, Way Cross, VA, went to be with the Lord Saturday September 27, 2008 at home.
Daisy grew-up in Possum Creek, Way Cross, VA. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and an excellent cook. Daisy was also a Sunday School teacher for Vicars Chapel Baptist Church and Camron Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Vicars; daughter, Peggy Morris; and parents, James Harvey and Geneva Ellen Vaughan Herron.
Surviving are daughters, Bobbie Imogene Arnold, Margaret Byington Dean and husband, Paul, and Rachel Castle and husband, Earl, Jr., all of Church Hill; sons, Walter Earnest Vicars and wife, Velma, Church Hill, James Harvey Vicars and wife, Linda, Bradenton, FL, Ronald Joe Vicars and wife, Peggy, Church Hill, and Mark Lynn Vicars, Roseville, GA; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Bear, Rev. James Adams, and Rev. Gorman McMurray officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ross Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
