Dale Elbert Van Sickle, 80, Kingsport, passed in his home Wednesday morning. Dale was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Dale was a graduate of Colorado A&M College, received his Master's at the University of Utah and his Doctorate from the University of California, Berkley. Prior to coming to Kingsport, he was an employee of Stanford Research Institute. He came to Kingsport as a research chemist in 1969 for Eastman where he worked until retiring in 1997. He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and a Member of the American Chemical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Miriam Smith Van Sickle and his wife, Ann Roderick Van Sickle (1995).
Dale is survived by two sons, Craig Van Sickle, Woodinville, WA, and Kent Van Sickle, San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Sophia, Samantha, Grace, and Olivia.
The family will receive friends at 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the parlor of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
