Dan Louis Marcum, 84, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Ewing, VA, and graduated from Flatwoods High School in Lee County, VA. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from TN Eastman in 1983 after 39 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Marcum Zion, and White C. Marcum; two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara Smith Marcum; a daughter, Betty J. Odom and husband Steve, of Kingsport; two sons, Paul L. Marcum, of Kingsport, and Walter R. Marcum and wife Kemberly, of Walling, TN; two grandsons, Jonathan Odom, of Johnson City, and Daniel Marcum and wife Allison, of Sparta, TN; a brother, George Emory Marcum and wife Augusta, of Ewing, VA; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Wayne McKenzie, of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends on Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Services will follow at 3:00, with Dr. Ron Davis officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.
