Dana Flora Renfro Quillen, 98, of Kpt, went to be with the Lord (Monday May 23rd, 2016) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Dana was born on August 30th, 1917 in Snowflake, Virginia to the late William Floyd Renfro and Martha Nanny Blankenbeckler Renfro. She moved to Kingsport at an early age, attended city schools, and spent many years taking care of her sick mother. She met and married Floyd Quillen and became a full time homemaker and mother of six children. Dana joined West View Missionary Baptist Church in 1944, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, and made many trips with the seniors. Dana enjoyed church activities, cooking, gardening, quilting, fishing, UT sports and Atlanta Braves baseball. She placed a great emphasis on spending time with family and encouraged each of her children to pursue education. She was extremely proud of her children's and grandchildren's educational and career accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, all eight of her siblings and her son in law, Ronald Christian.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Christian; sons, Prezzle Quillen and wife, Katrinka, Ronald Quillen and wife, Rose, Richard Quillen and wife, Dianne, Bobby Jack Quillen and wife, Cathy, Floyd Quillen, JR and wife Missy; grandchildren, Wesley Christian, Jeffery Quillen, Nancy Partridge, Ronald Quillen, Jr, Gary Quillen, Kathy Rankin, Travis Quillen, Bradley Quillen, Holly Underwood, Ryan Low, Adrienne Latta; great grandchildren, Rebecca Quillen, Laura Quillen, Kate Partridge, Henry Partridge, Arric Quillen, Chantz Rankin, Laney Rankin, Nicha Rankin, Evie Christian, Emily Dean and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at West View Baptist Church and at other times atthe home of Dana's son, Prezzle. A service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dana's grandsons. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 8:50 a.m.
The family is sincerely appreciative of Dana's medical, nursing and Hospice Care at Holston Valley Medical Center.
