Daniel H. Smith

Daniel H. Smith, 86, Kingsport, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Hilton, VA, he had resided in the Tri-Cities area most of his life. Daniel was an employee of Eastman where he was an organic chemical operator, retiring in April, 1986. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. Daniel attended Bibleway Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and of the Woodmen of the World.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Smith; sister, Nell Baker; and 3 brothers, Scott, Gordon and Charlie.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Robin Ann Smith; sons, Danny H. Smith, II and wife, Wanda, and Michael D. Smith and wife, Angela; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts # 3/265.
