Daniel T. McCoy, Jr., 90, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully early Friday, November 7, 2008, with his wife Mildred of 71 years close by.

He was born in Keokee, Virginia, on November 25, 1917, and met his loving and faithful wife in Chester, South Carolina. They were married in 1937 and moved to Church Hill, TN. In 1938 D. T. and Mildred moved to Kingsport where they raised their family. He had a strong faith in Christ and was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church from 1942 until his death. He was employed at Tennessee Eastman for 42 years. D. T. was very outgoing, highly respected and deeply loved by his family and friends, because he had the loving heart of a servant.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Daniel T. McCoy, Sr. and Sara Minton McCoy; sisters, Maxine Renbarger, Vera Minervini, Mary Lois Williams; and brothers, William L. McCoy and Carroll McCoy.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Jackson McCoy of Kingsport; four daughters, Sarah Walters and husband Don of Kingsport, Sue Callaway and husband David of Knoxville, Mary Owenby and husband Frank of Kingsport, Martha Barnett and husband Ted of Pearl River, New York; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Tranbarger of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Preston Place & Suites, Dr. Funke and Dr. Shaik and their staff, and Wellmont Hospice and staff.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Reverends Willie and Becky Manseau Barnett his grandchildren officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
