Dr. Klinar received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina, and his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. His post-graduate medical training consisted of an internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth, New Hampshire. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Klinar was board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and was a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Tennessee Medical Association. Dr. Klinar enjoyed most sports, but had a special fondness for baseball and had served as team doctor for the Kingsport Mets for the past several years, sometimes traveling to their spring training facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He and son William traveled to as many major league parks on the East coast as time allowed each summer. Additionally, he was an active parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

On the last day he was with us, Indian Path Medical Center presented him with a Grateful Patient Pin from one of his patients. The Grateful Patient Program recognizes and commemorates a special caregiver by making a donation to the IPMC Foundation.
