Darrell Kennedy

Darrell Kennedy, 78, of Gray, passed away Monday August 29th, 2016. He was born in Wise County, raised in Clintwood, Virginia and graduated from Clintwood High School. Darrell was known by many as the Volkswagen man. Darrell owned Darrell Kennedy's Auto Sales and Service. Darrell was always the giving kind and never turned anyone away for lack of money. He enjoyed going to NASCAR events with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Auldra Kennedy and brother-in-law, Ray Stanley.

Darrell leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Sarah Fleming Kennedy; three daughters, Tammy Cloud and fiancé, James Aston, Susan Dunning and husband, Hank, and Melissa Bland and husband, Mark; six grandchildren, Jasmine, Dustin, Cassie, Haleigh, Tanner and Nick; four great-grandchildren, Eli, Savanah, Alex, Nole and two on the way; sister, Mavis Stanley, Shrewsbury, PA; brother, Larry Kennedy and wife, Rose Ann Clintwood, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, it would please the family and they know it would Darrell, if you paid it forward and gave blood at the Marsh Regional Blood Center, in his memory. You may also give a donation to his wife to help defray initial expenses of cost in these days of transition.
