David "Hal" Akers

David "Hal" Akers, 55, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday August 22, 2009.

Hal was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. This man, so kind and generous, was loved by all he knew, and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Akers; father, Harold Major Akers; sister, Lori Ann Price; and daughter, Louise Greene Trivett.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Akers; three daughters, Wendy Greene Moody, Christina Smith and husband Michael, Sheryl Stone and husband Todd; brother, Eddie Akers; two sisters, Sharon Akers, Judy Akers Stewart; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with funeral services to follow at 8:00p.m. with Pastor Garland Tipton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00a.m. Wednesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Fletcher, Todd Stone, Randy Brite, Jed Brite, Michael Smith, and Wayne Harless. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club.
