David Alan Conklin

I would rather walk in the darkness with Jesus than in the light without him.

David passed away December 29, 2012, at the age of 28. David's heart was full of love for his family and a special love for animals and for anyone in need. There will be a hole in our hearts forever.

David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary Annis and Junior Sharpe and his paternal grandparents, Mary and Guy Conkin.

He is survived by his parents, Cathy and Dwight Conklin; brothers, Dale Conklin and wife, Ginger and Brian Conklin and wife, Erin; uncle, Robert Sharpe and wife, Debbie; aunts, Jackie Mendenhall and husband, Carroll and Laura Murray; special great aunt, Ruth "Snook" Dixon; special nephews, Caleb Conklin and Seth Conklin; special niece, Emmy Conklin, all of Kingsport; two special friends, Brandon Bays and wife, Becky and Anthony Hunt; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Roy Lane officiating. Music will be provided by Kelly Jennings, Josh Mendenhall and Justin Addington.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mullins Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a local food bank or animal shelter.
