David D. McLemore

David D. McLemore, 85, of Kingsport, was taken home by Jesus on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Born in Columbia, SC, he lived most of his life in Kingsport. He served in the U.S. Army. David retired from AFG Glass Plant, Kingsport, after 39 years of service. He attended New Covenant Pentecostal Church for years. David loved going to church, loved his family, loved fishing, and was an ice cream connoisseur. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Callie B. McLemore; parents, Roy Franklin and Eva S. Busby McLemore; two sisters, Judy and Betty; and one brother, Bo.
David is survived by his daughter, Sandra Gayle Woods Eshelman and husband Jack; step-daughter, Callie Jean Calhoun; grandchildren, David T. Woods and wife Sara, Heather Sanderford and husband Alex, of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Joshua, David, and Leah; brothers, Bill and Jimmy; sister, Mary; and several nieces nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Military Rites by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
