David E. Berry

David E. Berry, 81, of Kingsport died Wednesday night, October 31, 2018, after an extended illness. Born in Alexandria, VA, he had resided in Kingsport since 1964. Dave had received his Doctorate in Pharmacy from University of Tennessee Memphis in 1963. He had owned and operated Berry's Pharmacy for 50 years. He was a founding member of the Daniel Boone Region Antique Car Club, First Broad Street United Methodist Church, and an honorary member of the Kingsport Antique and Rod Club. Dave was known for his charismatic, warm, and generous personality. He had an extreme enthusiasm for life and a special way of connecting with people.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Sudderth Berry, and by his brother, William.
Dave is survived by his three daughters, Betsy Berry Cox and husband, Danny of Crittenden, KY, Jennifer Berry Bingham of Kingsport, and Becca Berry Williams and husband, Brent, of Nashville; nine grandchildren, Jake, Rachel, Jessica, Laura, Sophia, Julianna, Gigi, Phoebe, and Kai Benjamin; two sisters, Peggy Bailey of Nokesville, VA, and Della Fenner of Manassas, VA; several nieces and nephews; and devoted friend, Charlie Ball.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Wm. Randall Frye officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with family members and friends serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 East Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660.
