David Leslie Hillhouse, 86, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, at his home in Kingsport after a long illness.
David was a World War II veteran and graduate of University of Missouri-Rolla with a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by General Electric in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Schenectady, New York, and Huntsville, Alabama, for 15 years, and 22 years with the National Bureau of Standards, Maryland. He was awarded the Bronze Metal for superior Federal service. He enjoyed travel and singing, and was an active member of the tenor section of his church choirs.
David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary, of the home; son Michael and wife Robie, Olney, Maryland; son Charles and wife Jane of Kingsport; son Timothy and wife Karen of Murfreesboro; son Joel and wife Chris of Johnson City; daughter Karen and husband Jeff of Castine, Maine; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Becker officiating.
